Bolt pattern conversion 5x1x0 to 4x100

I saw in a recent issue of that Euro VW magazine (not sure what it is called 
off my dome) some guy had 5 lug mecedes wheels on his Passat 4 lug , he had 
a small round steel plate machined with threaded holes , you bolt the plate 
on with flush bolts and then bolt the wheels on -

   I seen somewhere conversion Plates ...
   Where u bolt up to the orginal hub and then u bolt the new wheels to the
   addaptor hub...
