octane baby!

So it would appear to be that the summarization of all this is if I had a knock sensor, I would get better mileage with higher octane gas. Since I have a low-compression engine with no knock sensor, the cheap stuff is better. Am I correct? And does anyone know know what song the subject line is based one? I'll give you a hint, the group that does it has Bono in it, and not Sonny. Thanks for all the responses!

I recall hearing that with the knock sensor higher octane = higher mileage.
The KS retards the timing when there is predetonation. I get measurable if
not noticable increase.
