Tips for Cleaning Upholstery? Now long and boring

The upholstery is actually already removed. I just figured draping it out to scrub would be more difficult that way...
 
Also, Master Ron says he used zip-ties on Victor's seats. So I just I'll take that as a vote of confidence that they work well!  :)

Removal of the fabric must be done with reasonable care as the old material is prone to ripping, if you can source new "hog rings" (the little doo-hicky's used to attach the fabric) you can cut off the old ones thereby reducing the risk of ripage.

I did the front seats on my 8V some time ago, I was able to re-use all the old hog rings but they were a little anoying to re-attach since they were mis-shapen and I did'nt own a pair of hog ring pliers.

Removal of the covers facilitates the use of nastier detergents (purple power baby!) rinsing and drying of the afforementioned is greatly simplified as well. 
Another benefit of seat disrobement is the opportunity to custom fit the seat to your arse and back, strips of foam can be added to the inner sides of bolsters to snug things up.
Cheapass Ron performed this upon the seats currently residing in Victor and I'll be the first to testify that they are some of the finest feeling seats my sit-upon has sat-upon.

So yea... the bottom line, no pun intended, is real men remove the seat fabric before washing them : )
