worked on the passat a bit today. attempted to nail down the idle problem,
and it turns out the cause was something that dan bubb spotted just by
looking in the engine bay. turns out one of the hoses was totally
disconnected from a vacuum solenoid. dan had spotted the free solenoid, but
i found the hose with the car idling (big-time vacuum sucking sound, easily
found). plugged it in and voala, idle returned to normal.
