OK, some Scirocco talk...

Finally getting to the point where I'm reassembling stuff for keeps. PS rack is installed, new
tie rod ends, ball joints, control arms, and poly bushings are in. Tried to make some UHMW
bushings at work but had no boring bar and ruined the little stock we had. One of my guys made me
them out of bronze, but who wants heavy bronze bushings at the front and poly at the rear? One
day I might make me some from aluminum but like so many things with me, don't hold your breath.

Otherwise, waiting for the right shims to arrive for my 4-speeds pinion preload. Hint: get these
from McMaster-Carr: 50mm OD, 40mm ID, less than $4 for a pack of 10. Compared to $3.56/ea from
Impex! It's a shim, not a Swiss watch. Haven't measured the diff bearings yet to see if my
Cheapass find translates to further savings.

Still farting around trying to figure out my pulley arrangement. Hint #2: DON'T buy your engine
piecemeal: my formula of naked 16V block, naked 16V head, no donor car, and a car originally with
an 8V has left me scrambling for parts for literally months. Anyhow, it's no A/C, PS, on a 16V.
The kicker is that I refuse to have ONE iron crystal left over from the big iron boat anchor
bracket that holds the A/C, alt, and PS support. None of this trimming it down foolishness
either. I'm into my own fresh new foolishnes here, not retreaded stuff. Seems as though stuff
that should line up doesn't, like PS pulley, water pump pulley, and crank pulley. I'll sort it.

Megasquirt still is fits-and-starts, although Benny and I are nearly finished. Gotta source $50
to get the custom-made rail from a local bud.

Time, space, and money, it's always the same old things. But I fall asleep smiling.

Later, and GO SOX!!! (But I hope the Fish win in 7)
