Track Day North - what a BLAST!!! :)

If you were thinking of going, and didn't, you missed out big time!
What a great day! I don't believe I've EVER had that much fun! In case
you don't know what I'm talking about, there was an import event at
Toronto Motorsport Park on Sunday that included both drag racing and
lapping on their 3km road course. Cathy was gracious enough to host a
bunch of us 'rocco-philes' for the weekend - THANKS CATHY!!!

Doing my usual "last-minute-Larry" routine getting my car (semi) ready
for the track left me REALLY tired on Sunday (a broken bleeder screw at
2am didn't help things), but adrenaline quickly fixed that problem.
Adrenaline didn't fix the total lack of anything resembling a working
rear spring/shock combo though! :)

I had a blast, and drove the wheels off my car all afternoon. Screw
being smooth, I was treating each lap like it was a qualifying lap...
:) I can't believe how fast these cars can be with some race rubber! I
bet alot of people were pissed that they had to let a clapped out 23
year old car by. I didn't get passed once all day (novice class
though...) Makes me sorta proud that a car and engine that I built up
myself held it's own against WRX's and even an STI (albeit poorly driven
ones :) Not bad for a "lowly" 8 valve eh?

Thanks to Cathy, Ben, Anson, Sara, Daun, Josh, George, Renard, Carston,
Meredith, and the others that showed up - this was a memorable day for
me - one that I needed REAL bad... My face hurts today from grinning
ear to ear for hours on end - especially the "drifting" exhibition I
experienced from the passenger seat of Victor with Anson at the wheel...
Good times... :)
