Idle Valve (16V)

OK, I'm troubleshooting my "idle hunt" problem on my 88 Rocco and have a
question. My idle is not terribly, but it DOES hunt from ~700 - 1300rpm
at times. Occasionally it'll get low enough for the oil pressure light to
flicker, but it's never stalled.

With the key in the run position (but the engine not running) my idle
valve runs for several seconds, then shuts off for a second, several more
seconds, off for a second... a very deliberate pattern. Is this normal or
should it be vibrating consistently?

If this is NOT normal, which idle valves will work for my engine? Must it
be from a 16V car? If not, I can grab one from the junkyard Saturday to
try.

Finally, it should be noted that I have removed and cleaned the valve with
a liberal dose of carb cleaner, and reattached the wiring with dielectric
grease at the contacts. I haven't had time since to run the car to temp
and check the idle quality, however. (Stupid job and chores...)

Thanks!

Chris
