Perhaps the light you are thinking of is a fog light from an early 80s
123 model.  I tried an 82 300CD and found a Bosch # P8048-16908.
There CS has been pretty helpful when I've called and had questions
and their prices are better than other M-B suppliers (but nobody is
really cheap on Benz parts).  HTH
