4k tranny question

I think regardless of my timeline I'm going to try to do it.  I'll just be 
hearing about having another car in the already overcrowded driveway.         
                                                                     


Stock Rabbit GTI engine is a JH, same as the 8v 'rocco from
'83.5 to '87.? The tranny should be 2H for '83 and 4k for
'84.
        Is the 2H as desirable as the 4k?
