alternator question

Sounds to me like it's the exciter wire. It's blue and can be found =
under the front of the battery.

hey everyone. a lot has been going on with the roccos lately. andys =
rod blew a baseball size hole through his block so we are getting ready =
to do an engine swap. in the meantime, everything that i swaped out of =
my car( well, mechanical anyway, bc i only have two seats and my gauge =
cluster is duct taped to my steering column!) was put back in. =
somehow, a wire that goes to my alternator is missing. there is a =
plastic plug in there, but no wire. i was driving it for about a day =
(at least 50 miles). i didnt realize it until my battery drained itself =
of all power (the battery light was on for a while) and wouldnt even =
hold a charge to drive the four blocks to my house (two of which i =
pushed it!). can someone help me?! i labled EVERY wire that removed so =
i dont know where it is. and the bentley we have is for an 84 so the =
wiring is different. the sooner the feedback the better because i need =
my car for tomorrow. also, is there a possibility of another culprit at =
hand? thank you in advance. =20
