**grr** i pressed the wrong button. must
continue on now with part deux.

right, so chris has gotten out of the car, and
before he can inspect his handiwork, i'm in it
and gone. karl had just kicked clive out of the
driver's seat only 2 laps before, so he was on
his own now.

i took off and got into the slide right away.
the adrenaline was pumping so hard that i didn't
even bother with a seatbelt. bah! who needs to
stay in a car when it flips over anywas? :)

on one lap, karl got a little too far and hit the
curb with the back end of his polo. i think it
had something to do with the fact that his ebrake
was starting not to work anymore.

just to give a better idea of the layout of the
track, turns 1 and 2 are clear, with nice wide
run offs for big slides. turn 3 has an audi 80
parked in it, and turn 4 has the tow truck.

i drifted really wide on one of the 1-2 turns,
and slowed down a lot, giving karl a chance to
smash me out of the way. a few laps before, i
had jumped the same curb i hit yesterday, and
took all of the air out of the tire. this meant
that i couldn't catch up to karl at all, as the
car just went all over the place.

so, a lap after he passed me, i gave up trying to
catch him from behind, and at turn 2, i mounted
the curb, heading for an intercept at turn 4.
karl spotted me in time, and jammed the brakes,
so he managed to avoid hitting me head on, but he
gave me a t-bone to the passenger side, which i
paid back with a nudge to his passenger rear.

after spinning about a couple of times, karl and
i met up in turn 4, facing each other. knowing
what was to occur, we approached each other
slowly, until we were about 6 inches from each
other. then, like a couple of coked-up moose, we
redlined those 4-bangers from hell and dropped
first.

we hit each other and stayed relatively still
while the combined 103hp worked to annhiliate 2
13" tires. the wind was blowing pretty fiercely,
so we could see each other laffing as the acrid
plumes were rushed away from our chariots of
idiocy.

i went for second gear, thinking that i might
increase the BBQ effect on the tires, but could
hear the engine smothering under the load.
jamming the stick back into what i thought was
first, the car lurched violently backwards.
stopping, i got on the clutch, staying all the
time on the gas, jammed it into gear again, and
it flew backwards. d'oh!

karl noted my affliction, and had stopped trying
to ram me backwards into his staff. once i'd
gotten it into first, i made for karl like a
mongoose with chili sauce smeared on it's
cornhole.

i could hear his gearbox grinding as he tried to
slam it into first, but it wouldn't go, and i
pushed him up over the curb, then pushed the nose
of his polo sideways over the grass, and back
onto the track. glass was falling all over the
place from the headlights.

i celebrated karl's defeat with a number of tight
forward donut, then drove the car back to the
rest of the boys, thinking that someone else
would take it for a boot.

chris popped the hood and inspected the damage.
there was oil pouring from somewhere. a lot of
it. coolant was boiling, as was brake fluid.
and all the tires were either dead or nearly
there.

karl stayed on doing laps, and after watching him
do a reverse donut over the outside curb in turn
2, he made for the audi in turn 3, and tboned it.
nothing big, mind you, just enuff to cave in a
fender...and get me into the driver's sear of the
green polo again.

closing the hood, with a shrug of the shoulders
that said, "engine's fine, boys", i got back in
the car. this time, however, i knew that i
needed my seatbelt. so, i strapped myself in and
headed back out. did a couple of quick laps, and
then on the third lap, i came out of turn two
real fast. instead of slowing down and turning
in tight to avoid the audi in turn 3, i kept on
the loud pedal, went way wide, turned hard,
ebraking the little green machine-that-could
sideways, and hit that audi with such force that
the polos' rear passenger window exploded
outwards, intermingling with the glass from the
audi's two driver's side windows.

ah, it was a joyous affiar. wish i could have
had taped it.

maybe tomorrow. :)
