Facing a change in scirocco situation [long]

I am just the opposite - I was a VW junkie for years,
and then got {back} into cycling a couple years ago.
I ride a Yeti AS-R (XT+ level) for the fast stuff, an
Interloc hardtail (LX/XT) for the fun stuff and a
Schwinn Fastback Ltd.(D/A) for the road. Top speed on
that is 40mph.... so far. All said, around $10K
(retail mind you - I never pay retail) hanging in my
garage. That's almost what I have invested in the
scirocco over the last 6 years.

Any more I spend as little time working on the cars as
possible. They are pretty much just for
transportation to and from Moab / trails. This shows
in my being stranded this evening.

There may be a change in my scirocco situation soon
also. I've been drooling over the new GLi, and may be
in a position to afford it soon... but as I am pretty
cheap so I will probably keep driving the rocco 'til
it won't drive no more. Maybe just a Gl with the 1.8t

It left me stranded tonight. 4 bikes and 2 cars, and
I still had to borrow a car. The brakes froze up on
the vanagon (rusty rivet in the rear shoes), and the
headlights went out in the rocco (??? - switch?). To
boot, my jack and stands are over at a "friends" house
who hasn't returned them yet.... hope he hasn't moved
to Iowa already and my voltmeter is in-capacitated
(capacitated - get it? bad pun..... never mind.)

material crap at

There are some good pictures of Moab trips in
/cycling.
