How to lube an engine?

outside of a car that is?

I have a motor that's been sitting stationary for a while and I was
wondering if I should be doing anything to keep it from seizing...

It's been inside an attached garage the whole time, very dry humidity
conditions.

I was thinking of spinning the intermediate shaft with a drill to circulate
oil (after oil change of course) and then turning the crank by hand, then
cam etc... It's an 8v (PG variety).

does this sound good?
