brake problems

If you don't have an external leak (do you have to keep adding brake fluid to the master cylinder reservoir?), then the master cylinder has an internal leak (leaking past the piston)

  I have a scirocco 16v and when I press on the brakes the pedal goes down

  tomorrow and if it doesn't fix it I'm going to get a master cylinder.
