Generally, with longer the duration comes better top end performance and
less low end.
So, the 280 would make more power at a higher RPM than the 274 and it's
torque peak would occur at a higher RPM.
As an example, a G grind will have a power peak at 5500 and a torque peak at
3500 in my engine. The 274 HP peak is at 6200 and the torque peak at 4200
AND it will be comparatively much weaker than the G below 3000. (my engine
is not typical since it has Haltech instead of CIS, so YMMV!)
The 280 would just be more of the same.
Keep in mind these are just generalities. The 280 has different durations
for the intake and exhaust (referred to as "asymmetrical") and is reputed to
have a relatively good low end despite it's longer duration.
