Exhaust

Up to chassis number 53-E-022 074 the old style "H" donut hangers are 
used, and there's a full size spare tire well.

>From chassis 53-E-022 075 the newer style heavy-duty hangers (look sort of 
like an hourglass) are used, and there is a space-saver spare tire well.

This split generally translates to the 84.5 model year, and is pretty much 
the only thing you need to worry about when purchasing exhaust for your 
MKII (excluding existing pipe diameter of downpipe etc etc.)
