OT: Car advertising - Something to ponder

There was a VW GTI TV ad running 4-5 years ago featuring Jacques VILLENEUVE
saying "move over old fart" (loosely translated) speeding away like a mad
man in a GTI...

I have noticed that VW doesn't do this.  I realize there were the older
photo type advertisments like "Fly GTI" and others but for the most part it
seems VW and most, if not all, European companies use the conservative
approach.
