In CO and rocc issue

Dan,
You have let the synthetic oil leak gene out of the bottle. The debate
could be endless (or end here).
I have been running 100% synthetic oil in my Scirocco for the last
110,000 miles. The only leak was from the stock cork valve cover gasket
which leaked before. A G-60 valve cover gasket kit for $20 is the best
upgrade anyone can do. I am also running it in my newer car with 50,000
miles and no leaks.
The story I have heard is the original synthetic oils (15+ years ago)
did not have an additive to swell the gaskets. The current formulas contain
all the additives. The cold weather starting in unbelievable.

maintance book said that was about the right weight for my temps. I was
always told that synthetic wasn't good for a car with any oil leaks as it
tended to make them worse.
