16v Rear disks on a 8V



Actually, if your installing anything on your own car, preference rules!!
The E-brake problem is rather rare, if you ask me, since I've been running
rear discs forever and also have only seen a couple instances while working
as a tech in VW shops.  I would agree with the ease of maintenance but it
isn't much easier since you still need to adjust the parking brake once in
awhile (totally changes braking feel) as compared to adjusting drums a
little more often and cleaning out brake dust.  Overall, though, I think
they stop better and like the idea of getting rid of wheel cylinders that
seem like they need to be changed with every brake job (these days).  Again,
just my opinion, but then again, my car!!
