5th gear options..which is better.

I feel obligated to chime in here.

I have a 4K with a .71 5th. It runs about 3k RPM at 72-75ish (stock =
tire size).

Pros - great gas mileage (27mpg even in my turbo car), comfortable cabin =
volume, really fun from 100 mph on up

Cons - fawked up 4th gear synchro from downshifting on the freeway. Huge =
drop between 4th and 5th (almost 1500 RPM). Sucks for power unless you =
have a power adder.

All said and done, I'd rather have a .75.

What hassle? You have to pull 5th gear anyway... ;)

I think .80 is ideal for a 16V, but if you really want a .75 I have one =
I'll trade ya.

Well regardless of what my options where, I now only have the .71 at =
hand...the .80 was going to be coming from a customers tranny that had =
eaten itself, but at the last minute he changed his mind and decided tro =
attempt the work himself. Knowing how that goes it may fall back into my =
hands after he messes up, lol. If you have any use for a trade with a =
.71 that would be lovely, but I doubt it.=20
