problems with 8v gti

Breandan,
I had a similar problem with my car.  It started to show the signs you
described when I was below a half of tank of fuel.  It progressively
became worse until my fuel pump failed.  New pump, problem solved for
me.

having a problem with my 8v gti that i have been
chasing for a few days now.

only happens when i first and second gears.  when
accelerating(sp) in these gears i am having a problem
where the motor likes to buck!  problem just started a
few days ago and i have been trying to track it down
but have had no luck, i have checked the all of the
vaccum lines and they look good, i think it might be
the intake tube going to the air box, but not real
sure, all clamps are tight and in working order and i
inspected the rubbers and the dont seem to have any
cracks or holes.

anyone had a problem like this before?  or can anyone
give a little advice to a fellow lister about this
problem.
