Sunroof questions

MY 85 is a factory tilt and slide, you sure if you turn the handle the other
direction (from the starting point of the sunroof being closed) that the
tilt is not happening? could be you missing a part is all.

=>Are all the sunroofs tilt and slide?? Mine only slides back, I
=>really wish I
=>had a tilt one. What years did they come in? Are they pretty easy
=>to install
=>into an 85 scirocco?

  what i've seen in the junkyards is that the guides on the bottom edges of the sunroof snap (bad design) and prevent it from opening properly. you might also want to check the alignment of the sunroof and make sure that it has enough clearance in the back to flip up. other thing that i can think of is that the handle may be installed on the cranking mechanism making you unable to turn it in one direction. if the handle isn't from a scirocco, you might not notice the problem (the golf/jetta handles don't have the button to depress, hence, much cheaper to buy). also possible (though less likely) is that the previous owner didn't have the money, time, whatever, to replace the scirocco roof with scirocco parts. might have just ripped the parts from an a2 and been done with it (in which case it would only slide). hopefully you're just missing a screw or clip. good luck.
