Scirocco-l Digest, Vol 8, Issue 1

OK, weird problem on the rocco.

Sitting in traffic, if the water temp gauge reads higher than half (basically, above the light) the car will simply shut off. It won't restart until the car has cooled off. I pulled the fan switch and let the car sit until it got much hotter than halfway and the car idled just fine, so I guess my fan is drawing too much current when its second speed kicks in and its causing the car to shut off.

Any ideas? What should I start checking? I'm bad at electrical. Thanks.

I am getting ready to install my stock 16v cams back into the mk1 rocco
for temporary... and I noticed that my stock exhaust cam has a nice sized
hole, or missing metal, on one of the cam lobes! Never seen this before..
so to avoid risk of damaging a lifter, I am hoping to get ahold of a
"spare" exhaust cam that someone might have lying around?

Anyone? Just need one stock exhaust camshaft... cheap is good too! :)

Thanks!

BH,
How large is the area? If it's smaller than a BB, it probably won't hurt much to use it.

Thats great, more signs like that should appear here in the states. Along
with signs like "were are too broke to fill the f*&king potholes" for
alabama and "large damn metal plate that will kill your suspension" for
Georgia. I could come up with a bunch more but it would get old fast.

I managed to snag these tonight, my max bid was a c-hair above where the
other suitor dropped out.. the guy has a matching rear seat to go with
it too for $150. Jason, thanks for the lead!

Anybody have any matching door panel inserts for sale, or have a line on
a pair someplace?

Also - my standard cloth/vinyl 16v seats will be for sale as soon as I
pick these up and do the swap. EXCELLENT condition, no rips, burns,
holes, etc., driver's side lower bolster that always blows up has been
replaced and is in excellent condition.. local pickup only please
(Orange County), make offer via email.

Funny, same reason why I stopped offering them pre-pressed.....nobody would
send me cores back & I was charging triple what your giving back for the

Good luck....If I had some I'd send them out.

I need as many A1 pass. side engine mount brackets that I can find!

I'm almost out of passenger side engine mount brackets, and I need more
ASAP.

The ones I need are the '79 and up brackets, 8V and 16V, that hold the
larger mounts.

I will pay up to $10 each, or trade for parts or credit.
As an example; 3 pass. brackets for an 020 bolt kit, or 8 brackets for
an 80% kit...

If you are shipping 1 or 2, the Priority Flat Rate Envelope is only
$3.85 regardless of weight, and with delivery confirmation it's $4.30. I
shipped all 4 - A1 mounts to Hawaii last Wednesday, it weighed over
6lbs, and it was still only $4.30...

Thanks in advance!

I'm big on the search for Mersenne Prime numbers. Right now I'm the
third largest producer of CPU time, see:

On 5th Avenue in Manhattan in front of the NY Public Library there are
a number of signs saying something along the lines of "No Parking -
Not 5 minutes, Not 1 minute, Not 30 seconds, NO!" Funny to see these
signs actually made by the city.
