[OT] Question about mkIV Jetta headlights....



Seen the problem numerous times at the garage I work at... bottom line is to
use bulbs with the same specs as your originals. (can't recall off the top
of my head right now... but 65W seems correct... double check that though)
Most aftermarket "blue" bulbs make up for their lack of lighting by
increasing their watts... which is fine if your wiring can handle it.....VW
stock wiring can't unless relayed!  I have fixed the melted wires at work
and installed factory bulbs, correct watt blue bulbs and built relay
harnesses for the 130w bulbs......just depends on what you want to do.
FWIW, you can leave the factory harness in place, use the "signal" wires on
the factory plugs to run relays and then you don't have any "melting"
issues.
