Acutally, I had seen it a while back on Craigslist (a web-based bulletin
board). The PO was willing to trade random crap for it - he just wanted to
get rid of it. But my wife wasn't too enthused about me picking up a 5th
car - I was actually going to turn it around and sell it. But a friend of
mine ended up picking it up by trading a nice raft and motor for it. He did
a good job restoring much of the Mars red, but then his family ended up
squawking about him having too many cars.

I picked it up when I realized I couldn't put my ragtop into previous mk1
because it had a factory sunroof. It'll be an excellent base for my resto
project!

Where did you find that? Looks pretty good to me. I need to find a good
project to work on. My first car was a silver '80 Mk1. I want to kick myself
for ever selling that car. Definitely not as clean as yours, but so much
fun.

  Background:  Mars '81S, non-S/R, A/C (which I didn't want), bone-stock
  except for a mis-aligned Fuba install, one blown cylinder, ODO reads under
  100k (not sure of exact mileage). Bottom line?  It's ridiculously clean
  (except for the minor front end damage and some minor wierd damage to the
  bottom areas of the front fenders).
