2.0 help (anyone that can spare the time)



The TT 2.25 exhaust uses a 2" cat  and then after the cat has a short nipple that joins the cat to the 2.25" center pipe. The pipe behind that nipple is not swaged out enough to accept a 2.25" pipe though so step one is open the swage out to take a 2.25" pipe. Second, fab new nipple with 2.25" pipe and new flange. Third, fab test pipe that joins nipple to downpipe.
I do have a 2.25" cat with the standard size body that I shortened and welded flanges to that I can swap in for the emissions test. Got that from peter@thescirocco.com
Haven't done anything with the downpipe since one of these Godamned days I'm going to install a turbo and the downpipe for that will be 2.25"
If I was going to stay NA I'd ditch the test pipe, downpipe and manifold and build a header straight back to the center pipe. Reinstall the other pieces every two years for the emissions test.
Can I run off at the mouth or what??

    What did you do to make it a "true" 2.25?  I was looking into cutting the flange portion of the downpipe off and having a system welded with any flanges.  I need to use a cat down here, so I was going to take Patrick's advice from a while back and get a cat for a big V8.  I want to say thanks for having your car tuned so well.  It makes it easy for me to pass on the 16v deals that seem to be falling my way these days.
