A/C clutch question

Has anyone ever taken apart, or replaced just the clutch on their A/C
compressor (Mk II style, the "can" vs. the "cube")?
Is the clutch just the piece held on the front of the compressor by the 17mm
nut? Or is there more behind the pulley?
