Tranny install question

Yeah, the swaybar is way easier.
You may already know this, but reinstalling the swaybar, especially if it's
aftermarket, is lots easier if the car is on the ground. Gets everything
into a non-stressed position.

Well gee, I do suppose taking the swaybar off would be a heck of a lot
easier than the header :o)

Take the tranny mount bracket completely off, it saves time leaving it
on coming out. But does nothing but hinder the re-install. Take it form
a man who knows. That or remove the sway bar.

Actually, the problem here is that I think I can't drop my engine as
much as normal because the header I have on it. Once the header rests on
the swaybar it actually holds the engine in place so I guess I'll try
removing the header..

I was able to pull it out with the motor mount attached so I figured I
could get it in.

I won't say you can't install the tranny with the mount in place, but
I'd
think you need to angle the engine down a whole lot to do it.
I always install the tranny with everything off it that I can take off
i.e.
no mount, no shift linkage parts. Just lots easier.
You should be able to install the mount by dropping that end of the
tranny
engine combination enough to get the bolts past the inner fender. About
the
same amount required to install the tranny (at least the way I do it).
Sounds like you just need to drop the driver's side down a little more.

Subject: Tranny install question

So last night I went to install the tranny. I ended up using a jack
this time and laid next to the jack making holding the tranny in place
with my hands while I worked the pump with my foot. Put I have a
problem. I couldn't get it in with the motor mount attached to the end
cap. So I took it off and got the tranny installed. Well now I want to
kick myself cause I can't get the motor mount on now. I was figuring
that with the tranny and engine lowered on the driver's side there would
be enough clearance to get the two bolts that attach the mount piece to
the tranny in, but there isn't.

So, in general, how do I install the tranny? Should the mount be on it
before putting the tranny back in the car? I'm going to go over there
tonight and drop it again and try to put it in with the mount installed.
I'm thinking that now I have successfully put in the trany I should be
able to get it with the motor mount on.
