Hi all, 
 
I have a problem with my 84 scirocco. The engine idles high and erratically, it sounds as though it may be miss firing when idling too. It also often cuts out when idling. When the engine is at higher revs, ie when driving, it seems to run ok.
 
I assume this may have something to do with the timing or carb, but I'm not sure which is more likely or how to check.
