Don't rally a Scirocco or a Corrado. Rather, go for a Golf2 or Golf3. That's
where the value, practicality, and best performance is. Also, don't bother
building your own car for your first time out on the stages. Rather, buy
yourself a used car and go from there. There are serious deals out there!
Check out this page for a great listing of used rally cars:

Um, yeah... All-season tires are basically unusable on rally roads. I've
seen people use snows, but it is a bad move all around. There are several
options out there with prices for VW-sized tires ranging from around $80 -
$150 each. Used examples can be picked up for a fraction of that amount.
Anyway, assuming that you're in the United States, your choices are:

Silverstone: <http://www.taborrallyteam.com/silverstone/silverstone.html>
Michelin:

Tires&brand=Michelin>
Kumho:

You many also be able to find Pirellis, but they're *mad* expensive and hard
to find spares. If you're looking for a bunch of used 14" tires,
(Silverstones and Michelins), I've got a bunch. Lemme know.
