Mk 1 has the shakes

Hello all,I have a Mk1 question. The car is an 81 not that it makes any difference. I'm driving along, the car begins to shake above 65mph shakes volently above 70 and worse upon deceleration until you get back down to 65 and below. The steering is stiff even for a non-PS Mk1,and pulls to the right a little. By the way all the shocks are toast. When you first start it up there's a can with a marble in it being shaken sound under the hood. Any thoughts on this? I'm planning to attend the Cinci get together, should I PIA Daun?
