What's the cause of a stiff one...

moonroof, that is...  :)

My friend Sean's (indirect lister through me) moonroof (Mk2-85) is
pretty stiff to open and close...  Everything still works ok, just
requires a bit more effort than it should.  He'd like to fix the
problem before something goes "pop, sproing, bang". What's the usual
culprit?  I've never messed with any of these things...

BTW, been in the back seat of a MK2 with a moonroof lately?  I had
forgotten how little headroom there is back there...  (I've still got a
stiff neck from the drive down to Cincy last year as a passenger in
Sean's car...  At least this year I'll be driving down in one of my MK1s)
