I agree.  I've been very happy with Zonealarm, not so much cuz it blocks
incoming crap, but it also blocks outbound stuff unless you give those
programs specific access to the net.  It has saved my a$$ a few times...
last time I had one of the Litmus viruses on my box and my firewall kept
asking me if I wanted to let some unknown program access the internet,
more specifically an IRC server.  Dunno about those Linksys/Netgear
firewalls, but I believe they don't block outbound stuff, at least not
right out of the box.  Not all attacks originate from outside of yer
PC...
