oil leak: oil pan gasket

General when installing a new gasket cork or rubber, it is advisable to pop
the bolt holes with a ballpeen hammer (sealing surface out). The reason you
do this is because the hole the bolt goes through deforms towards the more
ridig object (head or block) the deformation no matter how small cause a
high spot on the sealing surface or a pinch not allowing for a good seal. I
learned this when I worked for DANA corp. On a similar note only use a thin
layer of gasket sealer on each surface you will get a better seal than apply
a ton and you won't have to worry about squeezing it into critical areas on
the engine and then blocking something up later.
