4K or Not 4K

 One word: ACCELERATION

Julie, the 4k is the best geared stock VW tranny for acceleration...
combine a 3.94 final drive with a close-ratio gear set and you have
one mean pulling rocco!  $50 is a great deal!
The only suggestion I have for the 4k gearbox is to change the stock
5th gear to a 0.80 instead.  The stock 5th gear is great for the open
race track, but terrible on the highway.

You're 16v mk1 will be noticeably faster with this tranny!  ;)~
