Audii R8, was Re: Lowering Compression?

Simple.....
It doesn't.
Based on information from Racecar Engineering and Racetech LMP boost is
limited to a much lower value.
I could only find data on the 4.0 L TT Cadillac LMP, but it is limited to
7.5 psi boost. The 3.6 L TT R8 may be allowed a slightly higher boost, but
it's going to be in the region of 8.5 psi.
OTOH, CR is revealed to be >12:1. This the DFI engine. The previous R8
engine ran >11:1.
What is truly amazing is that this engine also is expected to run in the
region of 1.2-1.5 lambda! That's an A/F ratio of up to 22:1. No data on what
conditions it runs this high.
Also, there was no information on any special coating, although there was a
lot of attention to combustion chamber cooling to improve piston life when
they went to the DFI engine.
Tuning, cooling, race gas, DFI....they all contribute.
So, where'd you get your data on boost and CR??
Dan
