Lowering Compression?

I would look for a 1.8 16v block to use and then lower compression with
either a thicker copper headgasket, or a copper spacer snadwiched between
two metal stock gaskets.  Why 1.8 instead of 2.0......well 1.8 16v blocks
are damn near free these days (I have one if anyone want's it).

If you are considering running stock fueling i.e. cis-e or motronic than
shoot for 8:1 or 8.5:1 compression.  If your using G60 or another "tunable"
type system EFI you could go as high as 9.5:1 if intercooled.
