Rebuild costs?

It all depends on who you have do it and if you plan to do the head and the
bottom end, or just the bottom end.  Parts for the bottom end can be about
$300 - $500, again depending on what you want to do (rebush rods, new or
used pistons, new rod bolts or use old ones, etc), the head can be about the
same in parts depending on what you want to do to it!!  You can do ALOT of
different things to the head (of course, you can do a lot of things to the
bottom end too but easier to just get a 2.0L block and go from their than to
mess with the 1.8L block) and, again, depending on what you want to do, you
can spend anywhere from $300 to $2000 and on up!!  I have rebuilt heads for
people (new guides, valves, lifters, port and polish, surface, valve grind,
new gaskets and t-belt, etc.) for about $1000 and that includes labor!!  To
have someone else do it for you (overhaul the motor) your probably looking
at around $2000 to $3000 to have a shop do it!!  It pays to do your own
work!!  I invite others to chime in if I have missed anything!!  HTH!!
