Well, just when you think that nothing else can go wrong...The other day,
I was getting into my car, and noticed that the clutch was a little
stiff.  Now, I hadn't driven the car in almost 3 weeks as I was injured
with a badly sprained left ankle.  Feeling that my leg was just a little
weak after being on crutches, I left, wincing and screaming with every
shift. (Hey, I had to get to physical therapy somehow!!!)  I also noticed
that my shifter was getting stuck in gear, but I chalked that up to maybe
I wasn't pushing the clutch in far enough....nope, all the way on the
floor...hmmm....next day, go to start car, and car starts moving as I turn
the key, with the clutch all the way on the floor!!!!Get car towed to my
mechanic, and I thought my clutch cable had broken, because it had
happened to me before with similar symptoms.  Nope, cable checks out, but
what are those metal fragments all over the top of the tranny
casing?  Pull tranny to find that the clutch had literally exploded,
sending the springs out of the disk, one stuck against pressure plate,
hence the clutch hanging up, one had wedged itself into a recess in the
case, two were just GONE,(hence the metal fragments) it had chewed the
flywheel so bad that the timing marks were gone, and it had machined the
rod going into the box so bad it was unusable...THIS CLUTCH IS LESS THAN 6
MONTHS OLD....in a stock 1.8 16v.  Not even an air filter change...in a
less than 2 year old Kraftwerks tranny (AGB)  Sachs is covering the
clutch, but all the rest is all me,so that was the final straw (that, and
the coolant overflow bottle is showing signs of motor oil invading,
Anybody wanna buy the rocco?  I've replaced everything at this point, and
I want my first new car, one with a warranty.  new MINI Cooper S, here I
come!!!! Also selling my Cabriolet, my first car, been garaged since 1999,
just can't get to it now, need reliable transportation.  HELP!!!!1800 obo
for the rocco, 2000 for the cabby.
