As far as gaskets I've purchased gaskets from both Techtonics and German
auto parts and they are both OE quality. GAP seems to be cheaper. Either
way.

Yeah the have great prices... I am impressed....I really wanted those
2mm overbore pistons though....

You need an exhaust manifold from 81 (maybe 82 also) or earlier J/R/S.
Although the A2 manifold will bolt to the head the outlet is in the
wrong place to fit the A1 chassis. If you can afford it get a Techtonics
dual downpipe (from Peter) since it will give more power than the VW
dual downpipe.

I do have a mkII scirocco though. I have heard the Peter name before
does he get techtonics part cheap than they charge regular joe's like
me?

Did you also know that the cam in the solid lifter JH is also the
weakest cam in any VW 8V? Time for a G grind, again, if you can afford
it.
Dual outlet manifold, TT downpipe and exhaust, G grind cam....best bang
for the buck on the JH.

Yup I will be going with all that stuff I may also be P&P'ing the head
etc....

Well all I have finally found some good priced piston's I was looking at
the techtonics pistons for a JH 1.8L 8V. They were 2MM over but I cant
afford the $450 US price tag. www.germanautoparts.com have .5MM over
pistons for $209 much better ( I really wanted the 2mm OVER ones), so I
guess I will go with those they are 10:1 compression as well. I am not
sure what horse power gains I will see running these instead of 8.5:1
compression piston but I am sure it will be some kind of increase. Just
wondering if anyone has purchased the techtonics gasket kit, if so how
are the gaskets, should I just go with german auto parts gaskets or are
the techtonics ones better? Another part I need is the dual exhaust
manifold I have the dreaded 4-1 exhuast manifold. I was figuring that
any exhaust manifold from a 1.8L Jetta, Golf (85 to 92 I believe) with
the 10:1 compression engine should have the right exhaust manifold and
it should bolt onto my 1.8l JH 8v head. If not what exhaust manifold
should I look for?

Thanks for all you help
