[ot] worst thing done during maintenance

some good ones i can think of:
- rear wheel bearings with out a press (tap-tap-tap-tap (4 hrs later) tap=
-tap)
- changing out evaporator without removing the dash (i actually did this =
once,
pretty stupid now that i know how easy the dash comes out)
- the lovely 'fuel reservoir/filter' that decided to crack/leak on the ri=
eger
(which is bypassed atm)
- that 6-bolt 16v exhaust manifild-to-downpipe flange (twice the fun with=
out an
impact)
- removing front suspension parts from a car that has sat for 2.5 years (=
impact
wouldnt even touch it)
- cant go without mentioning the axle shaft center nut... right cathy?
- the forward steering column bearing sleeve that seems to love to break =
at the
15 year point, causing the bearing to slip out and the steering wheel to =
rattle
all over the place. getting it back in is the fun part.
- replacing the front a-arm mounts only to find that the steel sleeve is =
1mm
longer on the new one than the old one. this info was of course not disco=
vered
until several hours of pain+suffering had passed.

oh well, enough from me, im still sick as a dog. time for bed-ala-nyquil =
for me
:)

my

ever
replaced in the course of normal maintenace on your cars. the afore menti=
oned
boot has been moved to the top of my list.
