Hatch Latch issues

I can't tell you how to fix it, but I can tell you how to get in: first off you should know you'll need to remove the big carpeted board thing, which isn't too hard if you tilt the rear seats forward. Anyway, once that's gone if you look closely you can see into the hatch mechanism a bit. There is a small metal, uh, thing(it's really obvious once you see it), pry up on it with a screwdriver and with little effort you'll hear the sound of the hatch releasing. then go outside and open it up. I haven't tried to fix this problem yet because it's only on my '84 parts car, but I don't think it would be too hard to fix-
