Diesel starter?

The A2 _diesel_ starter does have a gear reduction for increased
torque. I've replaced, installed and rebuilt a few of them and up until
this past spring I was running one in my Scirocco (1.6 TD.) I've since
installed an A1 diesel starter (as I had a recently rebuilt unit sitting
on the shelf to replace the A2 one which had a corroded brush connection)

If you have ETKA you can see the gear reduction part:

drive)
