Here's what I found when I did some research for my friend Sean
regarding 2" vs. 2.25".

On an 8V engine, 2" is recommended - even with a mild cam and port and
polish work.  If you're going wilder than that, a 2.25" system will
help the top end a bit.  I guess the low end torque drops off too much
with the bigger system on mild built cars...  You'll end up winding the
hell out of it all the time to stay in the powerband.  The 2" will give
you more "streetable" manners.

Most of the "informed" people I talked to (including the guys at
Techtonics) made this same recommendation...

Sean put a complete Techtonics 2" stainless Borla system on his 85 8v
and he's very happy with it.  It fit perfectly, and definately woke the
engine up...

BUT, if you're planning on adding more and more goodies in the future
it might be a good investment to go with the 2.25" system, and deal
with the reduced bottom end power for a while until the future mods can
make use of the extra flow potential...
