Mike,
the .bak is in the same format as a .dat. if renaming the bak to dat =
doesnt work, that means that the bak was corrupted as well.

Subject: WAY OT Palm OS Data file types .dat + .bak?
When I re-formatted my hard drive It turns out that I did not save off =
her PDA stuff and then her PDA happened to be out of batteries so now =
that data is gone. I managed to find the data with my data recovery =
software but the address.dat file is corrupted....but I did find the =
address.bak (backup?) file which contains the same data but my PDA =
software will not acknowledge it.....so now I can not figure out how to =
restore the data....
I am wondering what the .bak file actually is and how can I use this =
file to get the data back into the Palm OS software so I can get it back =
into my PDA. I have tried just renaming the file to .dat but that does =
not work
it is a Handspring Visor Neo if that helps
thanks....I would love to post something on topic but my Rocc has been =
off the road for the season since Early October and my winter Rocc has =
no redeeming qualities except that for 275$ this thing just keeps on =
running making my 80 mile round trip to work every day.
thanks....I don't know where else to send these questions
