insane speed in german cars

There is no such thing as a 2.4-16, it was either a 2.3-16 or 2.5-16, the 
latter of which was 1988+ Europe only.
It was a 5-speed, actually, but it had a dogleg first gear, i.e. down below 
where reverse is on our cars.  Gears 2 through 5 made up the rest of the H 
pattern.  5th gear is down right, which is why you would have thought it 
was only in 4th.

MB imported less than 2000 2.3-16s in the US in 1985 and 1986.  This was 
the car that made BMW make the M3.  It was a 2.3-liter bottom end from the 
regular 190E 2.3, but with a Cosworth 16V head.  It did 0-60 in about 7.7s 
and topped out at a tick over 135 in stock US trim.  The Euro-spec 2.5-16s 
hit 235km/h or 146mph...

I've been looking for a good 2.3-16 for years.  They're usually beat to 
hell unfortunately, but they're fun as hell.  And they only came in two 
colors -- Rauchsilber and Blauschwarzmetallik (a goldish silver similar to 
Flash Silver, and a dark charcoal grey).

How did you like the Recaro Buckets in the back Demetri?  My '88 190E 
(Euro-spec 2.0 Sport) had them and they were acclaimed the most comfortable 
back seat of all times by my friends.  Daun? ;)
