rough idle and hesitation

Does it run normally after the initial hesitation? If it does, you
might want to check the idle switch. If the switch is out of adjustment
or not working at all, your engine management will get confused causing
a bizarre idle and possibly hesitation.

Another thing to check is the idle stabilizer control valve (or whatever
it's called). If it's stuck and/or not moving freely, the engine will
have a difficult time trying to idle smoothly and may run poorly if it's
stuck wide open (like a vacuum leak).

Other possibilites:
-- ignition timing
-- temp sensor(s) for control unit(s)
-- O2 sensor
-- fat hairy gremlins in the fuel system which can only be exorcised by
the ritual of wallet depreciation. :) (seems this way sometimes,
anyway)

Hope this helps,
Erik L
