intalling rear main seal

What Pete said...and as far as putting the rear main seal carrier back
on the block, be sure that it goes on right!  The spring inside mine
came off and eventually found its way into my oil pump gears...ouch.

My local parts guy says that his mechanics use a wax paper McDonalds
cup - the kind Coke comes in - unroll then end, fit that over the end
of the crank, then put the seal on over the cup and and pull it out. 
Must be something to that because the Meistersatz gasket set I just
bought has a similar plastic piece for installing the seal.
