jacking points?

heh. your not It's a really good question.

> when looking under the car i see two spots where it looks to have been
jacked up before (scraped off undercoat, dents, scraped off paint) on what
appear to be the frame rails. is this an ok place to jack it up from? (if
not, too late, as it looks like its been done)

Don't put the jack anywhere under the body. ;p There are jacking points..
they are pointed out in the haynes
manual for a "lift".. They are behind the front wheels near where the body
meets the fender.

It a little "doughnut" shape on the underside of the frame. This is where
to jack up.

The mounting place is tricky, there arn't many. The best one i have found
is the mounting point
for the front sway bar. (the 4 point one). put the jack stand under neight
the one that is mounted to the frame
(not the one going to the control arm).

The back.. well the back is suck.

Don't jack in the middle. It's dumb. (not calling anyone dumb if they do
it, it's just my view).

As far as i can tell there is no perfect spot to put a jack The jack point
can use the rear
axel or part of the corner frame simmilar to the front.. I don't really
like eaither and i also
don't really like putting a jack stand under the axel.. but it seems to
work and not damage anything.

;p

It spent an hour one day trying to figure out how to get my stupid scirocco
up after i lowered it.

=p
