A/C Conversion

OKies, I picked up the conversion kit today and I'm all set to do this,
however I've run into a small snag.  I'm not familiar with any of this so I
can't figure out what/where the hi-side and low-side service ports are on
the car (88 16v BTW)  I see one port (I think) on the large hose that on top
of everything going from the compressor motor to the firewall.  Thats the
only one I can see and I'm not sure if it's hi or low.  Also, the hit says
never connect to the high side, so is there much reason for me to put the
converter piece on the high side one I find it?

Just as an FYI, the kit was purchased at Walmart for $28 and came with 3
cans of sealent+oil+seal conditioner+R-134, adapters from r12 to r-134, and
the hose/tool for connecting the cans to the a/c system.
